This 21 days safari presents you the best of Kenya and Tanzania. It features the two great parks Serengeti and Masai Mara for migration of wildebeest, cultural encounters, nature walks, hiking Tanzania’s only active volcano and so on. Campsites you are staying at are inside and on the boarders of National parks and cultural villages.

Day 1: Transfer to Masai Mara

Depart Nairobi after breakfast for transfer to Masai Mara. We drive through the highlands where you will have views of the Eastern arm of the Great East African rift valley and later drive to its floor. We end our day with a game drive and later dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 2 and 3: Full day game drive

Having had breakfast, have a full day game viewing on the vast plains of the Masai Mara giving you chance to see lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs. Masai Mara is famous for having a huge population of game. The months of July to September tend to be the most interesting due to the migration of millions of wildebeest from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya’s Mara National Reserve. To some, this great animal migration is the 7th wonder of the world. Dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 4: Masai cultural visit.

Wake up for breakfast before visiting a Masai community. Their way of life is very unique. These are cattle keepers and have not changed their traditions to date. They will share their tribal stories with you and also present you a cultural dance which if you take part in is likely to wow your muscles. Can you jump higher than a Masai warrior?

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, you will travel towards lake Nakuru which lies in the great rift valley. The birdlife at Lake Nakuru is so breath taking and is also known for having one of the largest concentration of birds in Africa including; storks, flamingos, pelicans, fish eagles. This park is also home to both black and white rhinos not forgetting numerous predators that feed on the antelopes.

Day: 6 Full day birdwatching and game viewing.

We wake up early to search for early risers and have late breakfast.  Lake Nakuru covers 27% of the park. We are to spend the whole day looking out for game and recording the various bird species.

Day: 7 Transfer to Arusha

We wake up for breakfast and then embark on a long journey to Arusha in Tanzania. Considering the border crossing process and the long journey, we are to arrive at Arusha in the evening for relaxing at our campsite.

Day 8: Walking safari in Arusha National Park

We wake up early enough, have breakfast and then check in Arusha National park. We are to have a game drive and a walking safari. This is the perfect park for a boat safari (optional) in northern Tanzania. It is home to many primates including, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys. Large predators are not present but get ready to enjoy the largest population of giraffes in the country.

Day 9: Transfer to Tarangire N.P

Have breakfast and then travel to Tarangire National park. This park is home to the largest population of elephants in Tanzania and is all covered by baobab trees. The only permanent source of water for the wildlife is the Tarangire river and therefore both our game drives will mainly focus along its banks. It is home to big cats including cheetahs, lions, leopards, civet and serval cats. It is also one of the parks here with ostriches. Other game includes; wildebeest, zebras, buffalos and so on.

Day 10: Full day game viewing in Tarangire

We are to have another full day enjoying the game in Tarangire N.P. This maximizes our chances of spotting more game species.

Day 11: Full day tour of Mto Wamu village

This morning, we wake up for breakfast and then travel to the famous Mto Wambu village on the boarders of Lake Manyara National Park. Mtowambu provides authentic cultural experiences from all corners of Tanzania with the Masai being the indigenous people of the area. Here you can find more than 30 species of bananas, taste a local meal and also visit the mosquito river from which the village gets its name.

Day 12: Explore Lake Manyara National Park

Wake up for breakfast and get ready for another wildlife encounter. Lake Manyara National Park is known for many birds species that inhabit the lake, tree climbing pythons, and the rare tree climbing lions. These lazy cats can only be seen in Lake Manyara National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park of Uganda.

In the evening you are to go for a tree top walk way 18 meters above the ground which will give you a bird’s eye view of the forest. Our campsite this night will be in Mto Wambu village.

Day 13: Transfer Lake Natron 

Today we embark on a journey to go to Lake Natron to explore one of off the beaten track features.

Lake Naton is a breeding area for thousands of lesser flamingoes. Other birds present are the white stalk, Egyptian geese, plovers, lapwings and so on.

We are to end our day sightseeing at the Engare Sero river and water falls. Expect to get wet here.

Day 14: Transfer to Karatu

Have breakfast, rest and later drive to Karatu. This stop over will be our base for exploring the Serengeti and Ngorongoro conservation area. On our way there, we shall have a stop at view point of the Great Rift Valley giving us area views of Lake Manyara and Lake Manyara National Park. We then drive to our campsite to relax.

Day 15: Transfer to Ndutu.

After a mighty breakfast, we drive to the Serengeti National park. Serengeti is a Masai word which means endless plains. Here you will see endless plains only disturbed by occasional kopjes.

En-route, we visit Olduvai Gorge. This is where Dr. Mary Leaky and Louis Leaky discovered the remains of early man way back in the 1950s. Here in a small museum, we are able to see evidence that our ancestors are dated back 2.5 million years ago. Our campsite will be in Ndutu area.

Day 16: Morning game drive and   transfer to Seronera

Wake up for breakfast, game drive. Ndutu is known for masses of animals during the rainy season. After the morning game drive, we continue to Seronera area using the Nabi Hill gate.   Seronera is the heart of the Serengeti National park with constant and rewarding game drives even without the great migration. Our overnight will be at Seronera Campsite.

Day 17: Full day exploring Seronera. 

After having breakfast, we are to have a full day game drive with high chances of seeing big cats including, lions, cheetahs and leopards. Other game includes; elephants, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes and so on. Accommodation will be at Seronera Campsite.

Day 18: Transfer to Northern Serengeti

After feeding on fresh breakfast prepared by our cook, we drive towards the northern Serengeti to try our luck on the migration. Migration of millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles are expected to be crossing the Mara River into Kenya at this time of the year. You will see how these animals risk it all crossing a river with hundreds of hungry crocodiles to the other land for greener pastures. Other predators that follow the migration are lions, cheetahs, African hunting dogs, hyenas and leopards. This is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth.

Day 19: Half day game viewing and transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation area.

You will have half day game viewing at the Mara River and then travel towards the Ngorongoro conservation area. Dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite on the edge of the crater rim.

Day 20: Ngorongoro crater drive

After breakfast, we descend into the world’s favourite, Ngorongoro crater. Here it is possible to see all the big five (leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino) on a single game drive. This is among the most densely populated parks in Africa and is also home to the few remaining black rhinos.   We are to have a game drive to enjoy the wildlife here. Due to the year-round crater, the park supports a variety of animals including, wildebeest, zebra, hippos, African elephants, buffalos, warthogs, many antelope species. Expect to also see a number of predators including the lions, leopards, cheetahs and so on. Do not expect to see giraffes here as their tall legs cannot climb the crater walls.

Day 21: Transfer to Arusha/Kilimanjaro airport

After eating breakfast, we say farewell to the Tanzania northern safari circuit as we travel towards Nairobi. We are to arrive in the evening and you will be transferred to a hotel of your choice here or transferred to Jomo Kenyata airport to catch your flight back home hence end of service.
