3 DAYS BWINDI GORILLAS AND LAKE BUNYONYIBwindi Impenetrable Forest
This 3 days gorilla safari leads you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to meet Uganda’s remaining giants in the mist(the gorillas). Bwindi is home to more than half of the surviving mountain gorillas and is part of the Virungas which are shared by Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. The forest is also home to more than 450 bird species, monkey species, three horned chameleon, and much more. Description Meal plan Travel time Day1 Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Day 2 Gorilla tracking Day3Transfer to Kampala Day 1. Transfer to Bwindi Impenatrable Forest. In the morning of this day, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable forest passing the green plant cover that Uganda is known for; reaching the Forest will be in the late evening. You will have a stop at Kayabwe (The Equator Village) for some photo shooting, and also have your lunch on the way. On arrival, you check in your lodge for evening accommodation as you get ready for a serious trek tomorrow. Meal plan – lunch and supper. Travel time – Approximately 9 hrs Accommodation – Ruhija Community Rest Camp Day 2. Gorilla Trekking On this day, you wake up very early and are briefed about gorilla trekking before entering the Impenetrable forest. Be ready to walk for one to six hours depending on where you will find the gorillas. Having encountered them, you will be given a full hour to associate with them. The one hour you spend with the gorillas, is most likely to be highlight of your tour. You will then be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi for an overnight. This is the deepest lake in Uganda and together with Lake Mutanda has been proven bilharzia free and therefore safe for swimming. It is some where you will get relaxed after a long day in the forest. Meal plan –Breakfast, lunch and supper. Travel time – Approximately 1 hr. Accommodation – Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 3 Transfer to Kampala. You will wake up at a mighty breakfast prepared by your accommodation, take part in any of the optional activities at the lake, (canoeing or visit the legendary Islands or visit a Batwa community) before departing for Kampala. You are likely to have lunch on the way and arrive at Kampala in the late evening. Travel time – Approximately 9 hrs. Meal plan – Breakfast and lunch Accommodation – Not included. Included in the cost are, 1 gorilla permit valued at US Dollars 600.
