HIGHLIGHTS OF EAST AFRICA OVERLAND SAFARI
This overland safari takes you to the highlights of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. The whole safari is overland but flights between countries can be arranged on request. It includes wildlife experience, the magnificent Murchison falls, whitewater rafting on the world’s longest river and visiting a masai community. Day 1 – Arrival On your arrival at Entebbe, you will be welcomed by your tour guide/tour leader for transfer to your Hotel. You will then be briefed about your whole tour. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may opt to go for a city tour leading you to the Entebbe Botanical gardens, Kampala city center, Uganda martyrs’ Shrine Namugongo and watch a local performance at the National theatre. You then check in your accommodation.
Day 2 – Transfer to Murchison falls National Park.
You will wake up on a morning breakfast prepared by your accommodation and then depart for Murchison falls, have lunch on the way and reach the park in the afternoon. You will have a stop at the Ziwa rhino sanctuary, track rhinos in their natural habitat on foot before you proceed to Murchison Falls. Ziwa rhino sanctuary is the only place where you see rhinos in the wild in Uganda as they were declared extinct in the country by 1993.On arrival to Murchison Falls National park; you are to have a boat trip on the world’s longest river (River Nile). Expect to see hundreds of hippos bathing, crocodiles, warthogs, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, cheetah, wild dogs and many more. This park is also home to over 350 bird species. You are advised to wear a hat and insect repellent to avoid bites of insects. You will then feed on packed lunch and hike with your guide to the top of the falls using the same route used by British Explorer Sir Samuel Baler and his wife Florence Baker. This gives you an opportunity to see how the Victoria Nile plunges over 45 meters over the Remnant rift valley wall thus creating the amazing Murchison Falls. You will also be able to see the rainbow that appears on the top of the falls all day. After here, check in lodge for evening accommodation.
Day 3 Murchison Falls National park
On this day, you will be woken up by the singing birds outside your camp, have breakfast, cross the River Nile by ferry to the Para side of the park for a morning game drive in search for a number of animals. Expect to see warthogs, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, hyenas, waterbucks, oribis, giraffes and many more. This park is also home to over 450 bird species.
Day 4 – Transfer to Jinja
We shall our breakfast at leisure and then travel to the adventure capital of Uganda. We are to have a stop at the Sezibwa falls and then continue to see the source of the world’s longest river. (River Nile) You get see how the Nile magically separates from the waters of lake victoria. We shall also visit the place where the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi have been dispelled.
Day 5 White water rafting
After breakfast, we go rafting on the river Nile with professional guides who will brief you before taking part in this interesting activity. Rafting on the Nile covers a distance of approximately 31km with 6 rapids. You will raft the grade five rapids. Other activities to participate in are, kayaking, sport fishing , biking, village walks, horseback riding and bungee jumping. If you do not take part in the rafting, we offer you any of the above activities.
Day 6 Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
We have our breakfast and continue East of Uganda. Passports out at this time and we cross the border into Kenya and proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park. We check in our lodge and this time is for personal activities. We are now inside Lake Nakuru commonly known as land of dust famous for man eaters and the flamingoes which give the park a beautiful colour.
Day 7 – Lake Nakuru National Park
We wake up early for a game drive to see the flamingoes, the rare black rhinoceros, giraffes, wildebeests, antelope species such as the oribi, waterbucks, bushbucks, impalas and so on. You will also enjoy the beautiful bird population that this park has to offer.
Day 8 – Transfer to Nairobi
Having had breakfast, we shall drive to Nairobi the capital of Kenya. This drive gives good views of the Eastern arm of the Great East African rift valley. We shall have numerous stops so as to take photos which are to act as souvenirs after your safari. On arrival in Nairobi, we visit the giraffe center and the skyscraper of Nairobi which gives us a good view of the entire city. We then visit the Carnivore restaurant where we get the opportunity to taste exotic meat such as crocodiles, octopus, ostrich, and frogs and so on.
Day 9 – Transfer to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, we travel to Amboseli National park which is famous for the African big five.(lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and the rhinoceros. This park is also known as the land of the giants. The journey is through beautiful landscapes and overlooks the Kirimanjaro mountain (roof of Africa) Other wildlife in the park includes, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes warthogs antelope species such as topi, eland, waterbucks, kobs and so on. We are to have an evening game drive before checking in our lodge for overnight.
Day 10 – Visiting a masai village
We wake up for a morning game drive followed by bush breakfast and then climb the observation hill. We ten visit a masai community to learn about their culture and way of life. These people are nomardic pastoralists and are known for their strong cultural bonds. Please do not dare disrespect their culture as this annoys them so much. We then continue to with our journey to cross boarder at Namangu. Passports out again and cross into the land of superlative and transfer to Serengeti up to the Seronera valley.
Day 11 – Serengeti National Park
Serengeti is Africa’s most popular protected area and is famous for the migration of the wildebeest. It has featured in many wildlife and photography documentaries. We are in to see a number of wild animals and if it’s time for migration, expect to see millions of wildebeest and thousands of zebras in search for water and better pastures. They are always followed by predators including lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and the elusive leopard.
Day 12 Transfer to Ngorogoro crater.
After breakfast, we visit the famous Ngorongoro crater National Park. This is among the most densely populated parks in Africa and is home to the few remaining black rhinos. We are to have a game drive to enjoy the wildlife here. Due to year round crater, the park supports a variety of animals including, wildebeest, zebra, hippos, African elephants, buffalos, warthogs, many antelope species. Expect to also see a number of predators including the lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals,.
Day 13 – Ngorongoro and Departure.
We begin our day with breakfast and the visit the Ngorongoro crater. This is the world’s largest intact volcano. It was created by the collapse of the volcano and the vegetation here is healthy due to the fertile soil. We then check out of the park and drop off will at the Hotel of your choice in Arusha or Arusha International Airport.

For standard travellers, we shall camp in some national parks of Kenya and Tanzania. This tour is fully customizable and therefore, you can easily make changes or add gorilla tracking, chimpanzee tracking, and beach holiday on it. Flying balloon safaris in Murchison Falls and Serengeti can be arranged on request. Flights between countries can be arranged on request.
